The Silvermont Mansion, originally owned by Joseph and Elizabeth
Silversteen, was built on East Main Street in the early 1900’s. Upon
the death of their last living child in 1972, the eight acre estate
was willed to Transylvania County to operate as a public park. The
33 room home was placed on the National Register of Historic Places
in 1981. The building was opened to public use in the fall of 1982.
In 2008 the Senior Opportunity Center was opened in the
Silvermont Mansion. For more information on the SOC please

The park includes the following amenities:
*Silvermont Mansion: The first floor is available for rental.
The 1800 square foot area contains a kitchen, restrooms, and meeting
rooms There is
seating for approximately 60 people inside.
*Tennis Courts: Three lighted tennis courts with asphalt
surface.
*Basketball: Two lighted outdoor basketball courts with a
concrete surface (4 goals).
*Walking/Nature Trail: 3/4 mile gravel path around the
perimeter of the property.
*Picnic Shelter: The 20 x 20 square foot shelter contains six
tables and is available on a first-come-first serve basis.
Parking: There are 60 paved parking spaces.

Rental Information
The mansion is available to lease at a resident rate of $25 per hour
or $200 per day (8:00am-10:00pm) with a $100.00 refundable deposit.
The non-resident rate is $35.00 per hour or $300.00 per day with a
